HPCL share price: Share market update: OMCs trade in the red; HPCL slips over 3%

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

NEW DELHI: OMCs were in the red in Monday’s afternoon session with their sectoral index on BSE trading lower as oil prices rose to their highest level since November 2018 driven upwards by OPEC’s ongoing supply cuts, US sanctions against Iran and Venezuela, and strong US jobs data.

Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 3.28 per cent) , Indian Oil Corporation (down 1.87 per cent) , Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.54 per cent) and Reliance Industries (down 1.48 per cent) were trading lower.

GAIL (India) (down 1.06 per cent) , Castrol India (down 0.29 per cent) and Petronet LNG (down 0.19 per cent) too were trading with losses.

The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.71 per cent down at 14,735.67 around 12:11 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 36.15 points at 11,629.80 while the BSE Sensex was trading 79.53 points at 38,782.70.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of South Indian Bank, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Idea, DLF, DHFL, Indiabulls RE, Suzlon Energy, Vakrangee, PC Jeweller and Welspun India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
